It is not citizenship, but the cardholders have the permission to work and reside within the boundaries of India. It also does not grant the right to vote in Indian elections or hold public office and the Indian government has the right to revoke OCI status in a wide variety of circumstances.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;\">As Dual citizenship is not allowed by the constitution of India, the introduction of the OCI card is seen as a measure to cope with the situation. Only citizens of countries that allow dual citizenship are eligible for OCI. This includes any work done as engineers or IT professionals for a foreign country&#8217;s defence government.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>You are also ineligible to qualify for OCI if you are the foreign spouse of a deceased or separated partner.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Children of separated parents, one of whom is Indian, are also disqualified from getting an OCI card.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Children are also ineligible if their one Indian parent is now dead.<br \/><br \/><\/li><li>Foreign nationals cannot apply for OCI in India while on Tourist Visa, Missionary Visa and Mountaineering Visa. Moreover, the foreigner has to be staying in India for a continuous period of 6 months, to be eligible to apply for OCI registration in India.<\/li><li><p class=\"my-0\">Individuals\u00a0whose ancestors were citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, or other notified countries are NOT eligible.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e938b21 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"e938b21\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8c4f1e6\" data-id=\"8c4f1e6\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-00c90e1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"00c90e1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>Re-Issuance of OCI Card &amp; Changes by Government\u200b <\/b><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f15bfaa elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f15bfaa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Earlier, OCI cardholders had to get it re-issued every time a new passport was issued for individuals up to the completion of 20 years of age and once on completing 50 years of age. The requirement was in view of biological changes in the face of the applicant.<\/p><p><b>But now<\/b>, in order to ease the process, the government has decided to dispense with these requirements.
